Generic Accounts

Use

Generic or Nonhuman refers to the fact that the account name is not tied to an individual user.

Changing a Password

Password changes must be performed by the account manager. All generic accounts have a primary contact/manager that will be notified when to reset the password. The manager will sign in with their own credentials and select the nonhuman account.

Delegation

Account delegation allows designated users to view and send emails on behalf of an account without sharing the account’s password. To learn more, review our self-help Knowledge Base article Setting up Mail Delegation in Gmail

Delegation provides a more secure, controlled and transparent way to manage another inbox, allowing specific access levels to designated individuals while maintaining accountability, unlike simply sharing login credentials which can expose sensitive information and create potential security risks.

Support

Generic Accounts are available by special request only and must be approved to be created.
