IAM at App State

What is IAM?

Identity and Access Management (IAM) is a process that manages user access to IT resources such as devices, applications, data and the network, ensuring that the right people have access to the right resources at the right time.

IAM at App State

In December 2024, ITS began implementing the university’s three-phase IAM program for accounts management and user access and to replace our homegrown password manager.

Why

  • To make it easier and faster to grant access to IT services.

  • To manage access to all campus applications and cloud services from one place.

  • To automate account management, replacing old manual processes.

What is Different

  • These new web pages have replaced password.appstate.edu to provide comprehensive information on password management for accessing App State accounts and IT services for all employees and students.

  • Password changes now occur at iam.appstate.edu, our IAM platform. This site manages password changes and account access.

  • Previously, there was only one security question. Now, there are four predefined questions and two user-defined questions.
