Information Technology VMS/VAX Resources

March 17, 2010 08:46 AM

For the past three years, ITS has been making efforts and preparing for the eventual decommissioning of the outdated and costly resources associated with the VMS operating system.  In past years, this was a highly reliable and central component to our computing Enterprise.  However, with the adoption and migration to Banner, as well as, the general migration of computing to more cost effective platforms and operating systems, it is no longer feasible to maintain this hardware.

On March 31, our license to run the VMS operating system in multiuser mode will expire, and we will no longer provide support for applications or multi-user services through this system.  This date has been established and announced for a minimum 12 months.  ITS believes we have identified all legacy applications and made efforts to move them to other platforms.   If you currently access services via AXP.appstate.edu resources, and have not made arrangements to migrate these to alternate platforms, please contact Tech Support at 262-6266.
