1. Introduction
The following is a description of the basic objective test scoring services provided by Technology Support Services. Deliver the completed run request form, the test key, and the student answer sheets to the Control Window in Information Technology Services, 1st Floor, Raley Hall. Make sure the test key is on top and all forms are turned in the same direction. Every effort will be made to ensure 24 hour or less turnaround time.
Objective Test Scoring Program
A true-false/multiple choice test may be scored with minimal effort using a computer test scoring program provided by Technology Support Services. The program printout consists of seven distinct parts and the user may select one or more of these output sections.
The seven parts of the output are:
- Exam Analysis - including response percent frequency
- Summary of student responses - list of student scores and incorrect responses for each question
- Student results - prints percent scores, Z-scores and T-scores
- Histogram - distribution of the scores
- List of student responses - prints all responses with incorrect responses marked
- Posting sheet - list of scores by SPECIAL CODES number
- Spreadsheet file of student scores, sent as an email attachment.
Users
of this service must use the General Purpose - NCS - Answer Sheet, form
No. 30423, and are required to complete a run request sheet before the
test can be processed.
Limitations
The test must consist of multiple choice and/or true-false items. There is a maximum of 5 responses per question, and there can be up to 240 questions. Only one correct answer per question is permitted. If there are any blanks in the answer key, those items will not be included in the scoring. The answer sheet (including the test key) used for the test must be the "General Purpose Answer Sheet", form #30423, which can be obtained through your department chairperson who can purchase them from the University Warehouse (order number 11-1039). The answer sheets are processed through an optical scanning machine that transcribes the data into a computer file. Since these answer sheets are to be read by machine, extra care must be taken when completing them. If you have errors, your test key and student answer sheets will have to be rescanned.
