How To Setup Apple Mail for ASU
Purpose
Setup Apple Mail
Step by step
1. Launch Apple Mail. Locate the Icon on your dock. The Apple Mail Icon will look like the im-
age to the right. Click Once to launch the application
2. Click “Continue” to enter in your information
3. Under “General Information” complete the ar-
eas using the following steps:
a. Account Type: Select “IMAP”
b. Account Description: Name the Account (ex.: Appstate, Work, ASU)
c. Full Name: Your Name
d. Email Address: Your ASU email (ex.: doejd@appstate.edu)
e. Click “Continue”
4. Complete the Incoming Mail Server Information: Follow the following steps:
a. Incoming Mail Server: imap.appstate.edu
b. Username: Your ASU username (ex: doejd, smithss)
c. Password: Your ASU password
d. Click “Continue”
5. Complete the Outgoing Mail Server Information: Follow the following steps:
a. Outgoing Mail Server: mail.appstate.edu
b. Click “Continue”
Note: If this is a laptop computer and you take
the computer somewhere else or to another ISP
(Internet Service Provider, ex: Charter, Bell-
South). You will not be able to send messages,
only receive. To fix this complete this steps:
a. Check the “Checkbox for Use Authentication
b. User Name: Your ASU username
c. Password: Your ASU password
d. Click “Continue”
6. Verify all the Information on Account Summary.
7. Conclusion, Click “Done”
8. Welcome to Apple Mail.
